Ingredients

The ingredients needed to make the pudding shots.
  • Butterscotch Pudding: You will need one box of instant butterscotch pudding. If your local grocery store doesn’t offer this flavor, you can easily order it online.
  • Vodka: Try whipped cream vodka or vanilla vodka for these pudding shots. You can substitute the vodka for any type of alcohol in a 1:1 ratio. See the suggestions for different types of alcohol below.
  • Milk: You can use whatever type of milk you prefer, but whole milk will make the creamiest shots.
  • Cool Whip: You can find Cool Whip in the frozen section at your local grocery store. Cool Whip makes these pudding shots fluffy and creamy.

Best Alcohol For Butterscotch Pudding Shots

Butterscotch works well with a bunch of different flavors, so you can make this recipe with more than just vodka. You can also use a combination of alcohols for a unique blend.

Here are some suggestions for other types of alcohol to try:

  • Fireball Whiskey
  • Baileys Original Irish Cream
  • Kahlua
  • Butterscotch Schnapps
  • Amaretto
  • RumChata

Instructions

Step 1: Mix the butterscotch pudding powder, vodka and milk together until smooth.

Storage

Pudding shots will last in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. Make sure to store them in sealed containers so they don’t absorb any unpleasant flavors from the fridge.

Expert Tips

  • Pause when mixing the pudding shots. Sometimes it can be hard to get the pudding powder to fully dissolve. If this happens, stop stirring for a minute and let the pudding sit. Then, try gently stirring again. I find this helps dissolve the clumps much more quickly.
  • Add some garnish. Some garnish ideas include a dollop of whipped cream (try this Brown Sugar Whipped Cream), mini butterscotch chips, or a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
  • Reduce the amount of alcohol. If you want to make these pudding shots less strong, you can replace some of the alcohol with more milk.
