This Barbie Shot is a fun, easy to make pink shot recipe that is great for a Barbie-themed party. All you need are 4 simple ingredients and less than 5 minutes to whip up a batch.

A pink Barbie shot garnished with a maraschino cherry.

This shot is called a “Barbie” shot because of its pink color and fruity flavor, but there are a lot of other shots recipes that are also pink and would work for a Barbie or pink-themed event.

This Raspberry Lemon Drop Shot, this Raspberry Kamikaze Shot or these Watermelon Shooters are all pinkish/red in color.

Another great option are these Tequila Rose Pudding Shots which are a light baby pink color.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Pink — These Barbie shots are a perfect pink color that makes them great for any pink-themed party.
  • Fruity — The combination of coconut rum, orange and cranberry juice give these shots a delicious, fruity flavor.
  • Great for a Crowd — These shots are easy to make for a large group of people in just a few minutes.

Ingredients & Substitutions

The ingredients needed to make the Barbie shot.
  • Cranberry Juice: Regular red cranberry juice will combine nicely with the orange juice to give these shots a pink color. However, for an even stronger pink color, try pink cranberry juice instead.
  • Malibu: Use Malibu or another type of coconut rum for this recipe to give these shots a tropical flavor. As a substitute, you can use white rum and add a dash of coconut simple syrup for the coconut flavor.
  • Vodka: Use whatever type of vodka you have on hand. If you have it, a citrus flavored vodka (raspberry, orange, lemon, etc.) would work nicely for this shot, but it is not necessary.
  • Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice will always taste better than store bought juice, but for a shot recipe (as opposed to a cocktail that you are sipping), store bought juice works perfectly well.

How To Make A Barbie Shot

Step 1: Add the cranberry juice, Malibu, orange juice and vodka to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Pouring the cranberry juice into the cocktail shaker.

Step 2: Shake well and strain into a shot or shooter glass.

Expert Tips

  • Use Barbie-themed shot glasses. If you are serving these shots at a Barbie party, try serving them in these Barbie Shot Glasses.
  • Make a variation. These Barbie shots are a pretty forgiving recipe. You can easily substitute one or two of the ingredients and still have a delicious shot. Try replacing the orange juice with another tropical juice, such as mango or pineapple.
  • Use pink cranberry juice. For the pinkest shots, use pink cranberry juice, and if needed, slightly reduce the amount of orange juice. The combination of cranberry juice and orange juice is what makes the pink color.

Recipe FAQs

How many shots does this recipe make?

This recipe will make about 1 to 2 shots depending on the size of your shot or shooter glasses.

Can I make these Barbie shots with Tequila Rose?

Tequila Rose is a creamy liqueur that probably won’t fit that well in this recipe. If you are looking for pink shots using Tequila Rose, try these Tequila Rose Pudding Shots or these Chocolate Strawberry Shots.
