This Strawberry Chocolate Martini is a delicious 3 ingredient cocktail that is perfect for Valentine’s Day. Made with strawberry cream liqueur (Tequila Rose), chocolate syrup and vodka.

While this recipe is similar in name to this Strawberry Martini, it is a very different type of drink. Instead of being made with Strawberry Simple Syrup, the strawberry flavor comes from Tequila Rose, a strawberry cream liqueur.

However, both drinks are great for Valentine’s Day because they are reddish-pink, just like this Raspberry Martini or this Raspberry Margarita on the Rocks.

The creaminess and sweetness of this drink makes it a great Dessert Martini. For other dessert cocktails, try this Raspberry White Chocolate Martini or this Peppermint Espresso Martini.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Valentine’s Cocktail — Nothing fits the Valentine’s theme better than strawberries & chocolate. This is a great cocktail to make after a Valentine’s Day dinner.
  • 3 Ingredients — You only need 3 ingredients for this recipe (tequila rose, chocolate syrup and vodka)!
  • Creamy & Delicious — Since this drink is made with strawberry cream liqueur, it is especially creamy and really tastes like dessert.

What Is Tequila Rose?

Tequila Rose is a cream liqueur that is a combination of strawberry cream liqueur and tequila.

It is not as strong as tequila, and is easily drinkable all on its own.

It is light pink in color (making it great for Valentine’s Day!), and it works well in a number of dessert cocktails or dessert-like shots, such as these Tequila Rose Pudding Shots.

Ingredients & Substitutions

The ingredients needed to make the chocolate strawberry martini.
  • Tequila Rose: You should be able to find Tequila Rose in your local alcohol store. As a substitution, you can use another type of strawberry cream liqueur, such as Baileys Strawberries & Cream.
  • Chocolate Syrup: Use a chocolate simple syrup that is meant for mixing into drinks. You can use your own homemade chocolate syrup or a store bought one.
  • Vodka: Regular vodka works well in this recipe, but you could also use a flavored vodka such as vanilla vodka or whipped cream vodka. As an alternative to vodka, you could use gin.

How To Make A Strawberry Chocolate Martini

Step 1: Add the Tequila Rose, chocolate syrup and vodka to a cocktail shaker.

Pouring the Tequila Rose into a cocktail shaker.

Step 2: Shake well and strain.

Pouring the martini from the cocktail shaker into a martini glass.

Expert Tips

  • Add a chocolate rim & garnish. This cocktail tastes delicious with a chocolate rim and some themed garnish. Dip the edge of the martini glass in some melted chocolate and let it set. For garnish, add a dollop of whipped cream, and a dash of cocoa powder or some Valentine’s sprinkles.
  • Chill the martini glasses. Dessert martinis taste best when served ice cold. Chill your cocktail glasses in the freezer for 30 minutes before serving the drink.
  • Shake well. If you are shaking the cocktail shaker properly, the outside of the cocktail shaker should be frosted on the outside. It is important that creamy drinks are shaken well so all the ingredients infuse together without separating.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use strawberry syrup instead of Tequila Rose?

Yes. If you can’t find a strawberry cream liqueur to use, such as Tequila Rose or Baileys Strawberries & Cream, you can use a strawberry simple syrup. In this case, use ½ oz strawberry syrup, ½ oz of chocolate syrup and 1 ½ to 2 oz of vodka.

Can I make this martini in advance?

I don’t recommend making this drink in advance. The creamy ingredients can separate slightly after they sit for a while. This cocktail is best consumed as soon as it is made.
