Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Tropical Mango Drink —This mango rum cocktail delivers a burst of exotic flavors with the perfect balance of mango nectar, pineapple juice, passionfruit juice, and lime juice.
  • Versatile — The recipe offers room for customization. Try a flavored rum, such as Malibu, instead of white rum. Or add in other fruit juices for your own, unique recipe.
  • Large Batch — This is a great large batch cocktail and can easily be made in a big pitcher for a party or group of people.

Ingredients & Substitutions

The ingredients needed to make the mango rum cocktail.
  • White Rum: This cocktail is a white rum based drink. However, you can also experiment with different rum variations, such as Malibu Coconut Rum or Malibu Mango Rum.
  • Mango Nectar: Use mango nectar or mango juice. While you can make your own mango nectar by blending fresh mangoes and straining them, using store-bought juice is a more convenient and affordable option.
  • Pineapple Juice: Pineapple juice pairs well with mango. Use a pure pineapple nectar, or a tropical juice blend.
  • Passionfruit Juice: Passionfruit juice gives the cocktail an extra tropical kick. If you can’t find passionfruit juice in the store, you can order some online. If needed, you can replace it with pineapple juice or orange juice.
  • Lime Juice: Fresh lime juice gives this drink a zesty kick. Opt for freshly squeezed lime juice over store-bought alternatives for the best flavor.
  • Club Soda: Use club soda or sparkling water to give this drink at bit of fizz.

Expert Tips

  • Experiment with flavor and create your own unique variation of this mango cocktail. For example, you can use Malibu rum instead of white rum for a coconut flavor, or you can use fruit punch instead of pineapple juice for a mango punch drink.
  • Adjust the sweetness. This cocktail is on the sweeter side. For a stronger drink, add in an extra ounce of rum.
  • Make it a frozen drink. Instead of shaking it in a cocktail shaker, blend the ingredients (leave out the club soda) with a large handful of ice until you get a slushy consistency.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use frozen mango instead of mango nectar?

Yes. However, you will have to let the mangoes thaw first, then blend them into a purée with a bit of water, and finally strain out the pulp for a smooth nectar.

Can I make a non-alcoholic version of this mango rum cocktail?

Yes. For a non-alcoholic version, leave out the rum. Add an extra dash of lime juice and an extra splash of club soda to balance out the flavors. Alternatively, you can try this mango mojito mocktail instead.

Can I prepare this mango rum cocktail ahead of time for parties?

It's best to prepare this cocktail fresh, just before serving. However, you can pre-mix the non-alcoholic components (mango nectar, pineapple juice, passionfruit juice, and lime juice) and store them in the refrigerator to save time.

  • 2 oz mango nectar
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • ½ oz passionfruit juice
  • ½ oz lime juice, freshly squeezed
