  • Perfect for Any Occasion — Whether you're hosting a summer gathering, lounging by the pool, or craving a tropical escape, this banana rum cocktail is the perfect companion. It brings a touch of vacation vibes and a refreshing burst of flavor to any occasion.
  • Versatile and Refreshing — This cocktail offers endless possibilities for customization. You can adjust the sweetness, add a splash of lime juice for a tangy twist, or even experiment with garnishes like a sprinkle of cinnamon or a slice of fresh banana.

Ingredients & Substitutions

The ingredients needed to make the banana rum cocktail.
  • Banana Syrup: This homemade syrup adds an authentic banana flavor to the cocktail. It is made by combining ripe bananas, granulated sugar, and water. For a quicker option, you can also find pre-made banana syrups at specialty stores or online, but it won’t taste the same as the homemade version.
  • Malibu Rum: Malibu rum infuses the cocktail with a smooth and coconutty essence. You can substitute Malibu for another type of tropical flavored rum, such as Bacardi Mango Rum, Bacardi Island Punch Rum, or even regular white rum.
  • Pineapple Juice: Pineapple juice brings a tropical sweetness to the cocktail. You can use a juicer to make freshly squeezed pineapple juice, or use a store bought pineapple nectar.
  • Orange Juice: Orange juice brings out the other flavors in the cocktail. Freshly squeezed orange juice is the best option, but high-quality, store-bought juices also work well.

Expert Tips

  • Don't discard the strained out banana chunks after making the syrup! Save them to use as a topping for plain greek yogurt for a healthy breakfast.
  • Chill the cocktail glasses in the freezer for 30 minutes before serving to keep the cocktail extra cold.
  • Store any leftover banana syrup in an airtight container in the fridge. It will keep for 1 to 2 weeks and can be used in other drinks or to drizzle over pancakes, waffles, or desserts.
