Description
This banana rum cocktail is an easy, tropical cocktail that will transport you to a sun-soaked paradise! Made with homemade banana syrup for an authentic, refreshing banana flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- Banana Syrup:
- 1 large banana
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup water
- Banana Rum Cocktail:
- 1 ½ oz Malibu rum
- 1 oz banana syrup
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- 1 oz orange juice
Instructions
- Make the banana syrup: Heat the banana, sugar and water on a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- As the banana heats up, use a fork to mash the banana into smaller pieces. Continue to heat for 5 to 10 minutes until the sugar has completely dissolved. Don’t let the syrup boil.
- Remove the syrup from the stove and using a fine mesh strainer, strain out the mashed banana. Let the syrup cool to room temperature.
- Make the banana rum cocktail: Add the Malibu rum, banana syrup, pineapple juice and orange juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well for 20 seconds until the outside is frosted. Strain and serve into a chilled cocktail glass. Serve immediately.
Notes
Store leftover banana syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 to 2 weeks. Use leftovers to make a banana margarita or a banana latte.
