- Water: Water is used to make the flavored syrup. Use filtered water to avoid any unpleasant flavors from tap water.
- Club Soda: This mocktail is topped with club soda for a bit of fizz. You can also use sparkling water, tonic water, or Sprite instead.

Expert Tips
- Don’t boil the syrup. Boiling the syrup can cause too much water to evaporate, leaving a thick, sticky syrup. Adjust the stove temperature as needed.
- Save the strawberry chunks. Save the strained out strawberry basil chunks. These are perfect for mixing into plain Greek yogurt for a healthy breakfast.
- Garnish the mocktail. Garnish the mocktail with strawberry slices, fresh basil leaves or a lime wheel.
- Muddle some strawberries. If you like, add in some muddled strawberries and basil leaves when preparing this cocktail. But don’t skip the strawberry basil syrup, since this adds the most flavor.
- Adjust the sweetness. If you want to make this a sweeter drink, add in an extra oz of strawberry basil syrup. For a less sweet drink, use only 1 oz of syrup.
