Description
This naturally flavored pear simple syrup is perfect for using to mix into your own cocktail creations or to naturally sweeten tea.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup pear, chopped into chunks
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, bring the water, sugar and pear chunks to a boil.
- Once you reach a boil, immediately reduce the heat to a simmer and continue to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Strain out or separate the pear chunks. You don't need to mash the pear up through the strainer. Just remove them from the syrup.
- Let the syrup cool to room temperature before using. Store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to a week or store in the freezer for a couple of months.
Notes
- When simmering the sauce over the heat, it will seem more liquidy than after it cools. Once you remove it from the heat and it cools to room temperature, it will turn into a more syrup-like consistency.
- When removing the pear chunks from the syrup, you may be tempted to try to mash out all their juice to get extra pear flavor. This will just make the syrup less clear/pure. The pear flavor is already strongly infused!
