Description
This rich dark hot chocolate with amaretto is the best creamy spiked alcoholic hot chocolate!
Ingredients

- 1 cup milk
- ⅔ cup dark chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ oz amaretto
- Whipped cream (optional)
- 1 - 2 tbsp sliced almonds (optional)
- Chocolate sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the milk, dark chocolate chips, sugar and vanilla extract on a pan over low to medium heat, whisking occasionally. Continue to whisk until the chocolate chips are fully melted. Don’t let the mixture boil.
- Remove the hot chocolate from the stove and add to a mug. Stir in the amaretto.
- Optionally, top with whipped cream, almond slices and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Enjoy responsibly!
Notes
- Don’t let the hot chocolate boil. If needed, reduce the heat to prevent the mixture from boiling.
- Non-alcoholic version: For a pure dark chocolate hot chocolate, leave out the amaretto. Or, add a few drops of amaretto extract to substitute the amaretto flavor.
