Description
This creamy coffee hot chocolate is made with real chocolate and instant coffee, topped with a delicious homemade coffee whipped cream. Caffeinated hot chocolate is the perfect drink to start off your day!

- Coffee Hot Chocolate:
- 1 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons milk chocolate chips
- 3 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 rounded teaspoon instant coffee powder or instant espresso powder
- Coffee Whipped Cream:
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp instant coffee powder or instant espresso powder
Instructions
- Make the hot chocolate: Heat the milk, chocolate chips, sugar, cocoa powder and instant coffee powder on a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk as the mixture warms to incorporate the ingredients. Don’t let the mixture boil. Continue to heat until warmed throughout and the chocolate is fully melted, about 5 minutes.
- Make the coffee whipped cream: Using a small whisk, whip the cream, sugar and instant coffee powder together until stiff peaks form. Add on top of the hot chocolate and enjoy!
Notes
- Add more instant coffee for a stronger drink. If you want to give your drink an extra caffeine boost, you can add as much as 2 teaspoons of instant coffee powder per serving.
- Don’t boil the hot chocolate. Adjust the heat if necessary, but don’t let the mixture come to a boil on the stovetop.
