Description

These Cherry Limeade Margaritas are the best refreshing cocktails for hot summer weather. They are made with cherry syrup from fresh black cherries and limeade for a slight tang.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Cherry Simple Syrup:
    • 1 cup cherries
    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • ½ cup water
  • Cherry Limeade Margaritas:
    • 6 oz limeade
    • 3 oz tequila
    • 2 oz cherry simple syrup
    • 1 oz lime juice
    • ½ oz triple sec
    • margarita salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the cherry simple syrup. Heat the cherries, granulated sugar and water together in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently as the mixture heats. Press down on the cherries with a fork to burst them.
  2. Once the sugar has completely dissolved and the cherries have burst, remove the syrup from the heat and let it cool for 5 minutes. Then, use a fine mesh strainer to remove the cherries pieces and pits.
  3. Prepare your margarita glass. Run a wedge of lime around the edge of your margarita glasses. Gently press the edge of the glasses into the salt, rolling gently so it sticks. Set aside for now.
  4. Make the Cherry Limeade Margaritas. Add the limeade, tequila, cherry simple syrup, lime juice and triple sec to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well for 20 to 30 seconds. Strain and pour, dividing the margarita between your prepared glasses.

Notes

  • Make a pitcher: For a pitcher, multiply the quantities by 2 to 3 times and mix everything together in a large pitcher instead of using a shaker. Chill in the fridge until ready to serve. Only add ice right before serving.
  • Storing Cherry Syrup: Store leftover cherry syrup in and airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
