Description
This Blackberry Jalapeno Margarita is a spicy margarita with a subtle blackberry flavor. This recipe is easy to follow for beginners and uses a homemade blackberry jalapeño simple syrup.
Ingredients
Scale
- Blackberry Jalapeño Simple Syrup:
- ½ cup blackberries
- 1 tbsp jalapeños, diced
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- Blackberry Jalapeño Margarita:
- 1 ½ oz blackberry jalapeño syrup
- 1 ½ oz tequila
- 1 oz lime juice
- ½ oz Cointreau
Instructions
- First, make the blackberry jalapeño simple syrup: Heat the blackberries, jalapenos, water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Heat for about 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Don’t let the syrup boil.
- Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the syrup from the stove and strain out the blackberry and jalapeno chunks. Let the syrup cool to room temperature.
- Next, make the blackberry jalapeño margarita: Add the blackberry jalapeño syrup, tequila, lime juice and Cointreau to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well for 30 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosted.
- Strain into a margarita glass with a salted rim. Add any optional garnishes and serve immediately.
Notes
- Adjusting the spice: For a spicier drink, add an extra dash of blackberry jalapeno syrup. For a sweeter drink, add in 1 to 2 tablespoons of regular simple syrup.
- Storing Extra Syrup: This recipe will make extra simple syrup. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 10 days.
