Description
This pumpkin spice margarita is a refreshing fall cocktail that’s made with a homemade pumpkin spice simple syrup. Citrusy, sweet & pumpkin-spiced, this is the best cocktail for the transition into the colder weather!
Ingredients
Scale
- Pumpkin Spice Syrup:
- ½ cup pumpkin purée
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup water
- 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Pumpkin Spice Margarita:
- 2 oz pumpkin spice syrup
- 1 ½ oz tequila
- 1 oz Cointreau
- ½ oz lime juice, freshly squeezed
Instructions
Pumpkin Spice Syrup:
- Add the pumpkin purée, brown sugar, water, pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon to a medium saucepan. Heat over medium to high heat, whisking occasionally.
- Continue to heat, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until the brown sugar has fully dissolved and the syrup is smooth.
- Remove the pumpkin syrup from the heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Pass the mixture through a cheesecloth to strain out all the pumpkin purée. You should be left with a smooth, liquid syrup.
- Let the syrup cool for a few minutes before using it in the margarita.
Pumpkin Spice Margarita:
- Add the pumpkin spice syrup, tequila, Cointreau and lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well for 5 to 8 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosted. Strain well and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Enjoy responsibly!
Notes
- Store leftover pumpkin spice syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. For ideas on other ways to use pumpkin syrup, see the pumpkin spice syrup recipe.
