Description
This pistachio buttercream frosting is a delicious, easy to make icing recipe that is perfect for cakes, brownies or pistachio macarons. Plus it takes less than 10 minutes to make!

- ½ cup butter (114g)
- 1 ½ cup (195g) icing sugar
- ¼ cup pistachio paste
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- ¼ tsp pistachio extract
- dash of salt
Instructions
- Using a handheld mixer, beat the butter on low speed for 1 minute until smooth, light and fluffy.
- Add in the icing sugar bit by bit, mixing until combined. The mixture will appear dry and crumbly.
- Add the pistachio paste, heavy cream, pistachio extract and salt. Whip on low speed for 1 to 2 minutes until the buttercream is smooth, light & fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix in as needed.
Notes
- If you find the buttercream is not quite smooth enough, add in a small dash of extra cream to loosen up the buttercream.
- Let the butter come to room temperature (which will take about an hour), before beginning this recipe.
