Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup (114g) unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cup (195g) icing sugar
- ¼ cup nutella
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- ¼ tsp hazelnut extract
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Using a handheld mixer, beat the butter on low speed for 1 minute until smooth, light and fluffy.
- Add in the icing sugar bit by bit, mixing until combined. The mixture will appear dry and crumbly.
- Add the nutella, heavy cream, hazelnut extract and salt. Whip on low speed for 1 to 2 minutes until the buttercream is smooth, light & fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix in as needed.
Notes
- If you find the buttercream is not quite smooth enough, add in a small dash of extra cream to loosen up the buttercream.
- Let the butter come to room temperature (which will take about an hour), before beginning this recipe.
