Description
This cranberry gimlet is a simple holiday cocktail that is perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Ingredients
Scale
- Cranberry Simple Syrup:
- ½ cup cranberries
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup water
- Cranberry Gimlet:
- 3 oz cranberry simple syrup
- 2 oz gin or vodka
- 2 oz lime juice, freshly squeezed
Instructions
- First, make the cranberry simple syrup: Heat the cranberries, sugar and water together in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally for about 5 minutes until the sugar has completely dissolved. Don’t let the syrup boil. Remove the cranberry syrup from the heat, remove the cranberry chunks and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
- Next, make the cranberry gimlet: Add the cranberry simple syrup, gin or vodka and lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well for 20 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosted. Strain and pour into a chilled gimlet glass.
- Add any optional garnish (frozen cranberries, a sprig of rosemary, lime wheels) and serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover cranberry simple syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 to 2 weeks.
