Ingredients
Scale
- Blueberry Basil Syrup:
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- Blueberry Basil Margarita:
- 1 1/2 oz blueberry basil syrup
- 1 1/2 oz tequila
- 3/4 oz lime juice
- 1/2 oz triple sec
- margarita salt (optional)
Instructions
- Make the blueberry basil syrup. Heat the blueberries, sugar and water together in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally and use a fork to burst the blueberries. Once the sugar has dissolved after about 5 to 10 minutes, remove the syrup from the stove and let it cool.
- Use a fine mesh strainer to strain out the blueberry chunks and pieces of basil leaves.
- Salt your margarita glass. Run a wedge of lime around the edge of your margarita glass, then roll it in margarita salt, pressing gently to make the salt stick. Set aside your glass for now.
- Make the blueberry basil margarita. Add the blueberry basil syrup, tequila, lime juice and triple sec to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well for 20 to 30 seconds and strain into your prepared margarita glass filled with fresh ice. Serve immediately.
