Description
This easy and homemade blackberry simple syrup recipe can be added to any type of drink.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup blackberries
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- On a pan over medium heat, heat the blackberries, granulated sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally. As the blackberries begin to soften, use a fork to break them down further, pressing out the juices.
- Continue to gently simmer the mixture until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is a rich, dark blueish-purple color. This should take about 10 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the stove and let the syrup cool slightly. Pass the syrup through a fine mesh strainer to remove the mashed blackberry pieces.
- Let the syrup fully cool before using it in drinks.
Notes
- Storage: Store the syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks.
- If using frozen fruit, thaw and drain the extra juices from the blackberries first.
