Description
This balsamic glaze for caprese salad drizzles perfectly over any type of fresh caprese salad. It’s easy to make this balsamic reduction at home, saving you money buying it premade.
Instructions
- Add the balsamic vinegar and honey (optional) to a small saucepan over medium to high heat. Bring the vinegar to a low simmer, adjusting the temperature as needed.
- Continue to simmer the vinegar for about 5 to 10 minutes, until it has reduced to half of its original volume. It should be slightly thicker and coat the back of a wooden spoon.
- Remove the balsamic glaze from the stove and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving over your caprese salad.
Notes
- Don’t over-boil the glaze. If it is heated for too long at too high a temperature, it will turn into a sticky, goopy mess.
- Storage: Allow the glaze to cool to room temperature. Then, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
